Alloys : Tool Steel
Tool steel is a mixture of alloy steels and carbon. Tool steel derived its name from its ability to be formed into tools when resistance to abrasion and extreme hardness is needed. There are a few different consistencies of this kind of steel. One variation of tool steel is very good for machines that need to maintain a sharp cutting edge, another form of tool steel is good for tools that are expected to have a life of high impact, such as axes and picks.
