A. INTRODUCTION
Olifantsfontein, which is centered in the industrial hub of South Africa, midway between Johannesburg and Pretoria, has been the home of BEKA (Pty) Ltd since 1981.
Founded in 1978, BEKA started its operation in Windhoek, Namibia from where it introduced the manufacture of glassfibre poles and corrosion resistant public lighting equipment to the Southern African markets. Today, BEKA (Pty) Ltd is one of the largest lighting manufacturers in Africa, with a staff compliment of 84 in manufacturing, 28 in sales and 26 in administration.
Catering for innovative lighting solutions, BEKA offers a diversified and future-orientated range of products. Be it the planning of a city centre, public area and the development of a new residential, industrial or commercial area, BEKA’s products are constantly in demand.
All products are designed and researched at BEKA’s Head Office, where it operates it’s own photometric laboratory and testing facilities. The factory is ISO 9002 accredited in terms of BEKA’s long-standing commitment to Quality Assurance.
BEKA’s reliability and professionalism in both national and international customer relations has made them a renowned supplier of lighting products, with an ever-increasing share in international market.

> Public lighting for Pedestrian zones, Beaches and Gardens
> Floodlighting of Sports areas, Parking areas and Façade lighting
> Industrial lighting
> Commercial interior and exterior lighting
B. SALES DIVISION
BEKA (Pty) Ltd’s operates in Olifantsfontein and has several Divisions operating from these premises, namely: Gauteng Branch, Northern Region, Corporate Division and the Export Division.
The Gauteng Branch services architects, consulting engineers, contractors, etc. in the Gauteng province.
The Northern branch services customers in the North West, Mpumalanga and Northern Provinces.
The Export Division exports our products to most of African, Middle East, Europe, the Far East, Australia, etc.
BEKA (Pty) Ltd is the only South African luminaire manufacturer, which has exhibited at International Light Fairs, such as Frankfurt, Germay in March 2000.
Beka (Pty) Ltd has additional offices operating in all the main centers, namely:
a. Bloemfontein
b. Cape Town
c. Durban
d. Port Elizabeth; and
e. East London
C. FACTORY
BEKA (Pty) Ltd has 7000m2 modern factory facilities in Olifantsfontein. The world largest GRP pole manufacturing facilities have producted well over 300,000 poles.
All products are thoroughly tested and all products bear the relevant SABS mark and are also internationally certified to European standards (CIE).
In line with the ever-changing needs of the markets, two years ago BEKA have invested into an additional manufacturing plant. This plant is where our new state of the art decorative indoor and outdoor luminaires are being manufactured.
These luminaires are our decorative range of downlighters, bulkhead luminaires, decorative pendants etc.
This addition to our manufacturing facilities has made BEKA the largest in Africa.
D. TECHNICAL DIVISION
All products are researched, designed and developed in our fully equipped lighting laboratory with it’s own photometer and other state of the art equipment.
Tests are being done on a regular bases to ensure the quality of our products and to research possible improvements.
BEKA (Pty) Ltd has of a design department with modern computer design programs capable of designing lighting installations from simple office installations to the most comprehensive sports field lighting installations.
Keeping in line with the latest development in lighting control, BEKA (Pty) Ltd have recently, as part of the technical division, established a department responsible for the latest technology in dimming equipment with the accompanying electronic control gear, controllers, BMS’s, etc.
Highly qualified personnel head this department with experience in this highly technical field.
