Hoyt Darchem
For over a century the Hoyt name has been associated with the production of the highest quality antifriction whitemetals for bearings, often referred to as Babbitt metals. These metals are based on high purity tin with the addition of elements which give hardness, toughness, fatigue resistance and other desirable properties.
Hoyt's earliest customers were the builders of marine engines and heavy machinery and the company has always maintained close contact with the leading designers of propulsion systems.
Today, Hoyt exchanges opinions and information and supplies experimental results to companies such as MAN B&W Diesel, Wartsila NSD (Sulzer Diesel), Rolls Royce Power Group, GEC Alsthom and many others.
Hoyt's UK factory is the centre for manufacture of the bearing metals, bearing manufacture and repair, and incorporates a specialist Heat Treatment facility and a laboratory/test house with independent accreditation. The marine, aerospace, power generation, steelmaking, rail and other industry sectors are all serviced by Hoyt or users of Hoyt products and technology, and many benefit from Hoyt's continuing work on improving the performance of whitemetal bearings and providing the information to enable bearing manufacturers and repairers to achieve the best results.
Hoyt also supplies tooling alloys such as Kirksite and Cerrobend.
