MERL is an independent British company, founded in 1986, providing contract research and consultancy on non-metallic materials (rubbers, plastics, composites, adhesives, thermoplastics) for engineering systems. Specialist areas include: chemical ageing and physical deterioration of polymers in service environments; fracture mechanics of elastomers, adhesive systems, engineering thermoplastics and composites; antivibration mount design, analysis and testing; specialist training courses. Project experience includes: reliability and life of sealing systems - especially testing at high pressure and high temperature, fatigue and life prediction of materials, gas permeation.
