Morley Electric Motors Limited founded in 1897 in the Yorkshire town of Morley, transferred to its present location between Leeds and Bradford in the early 1900s. From there the company enjoys excellent links with the UK road and rail networks, is less than an hour away from Manchester International Airport and just five miles away from the Leeds Bradford airport. The company was acquired from its parent company by a management team with backing from Barclays Acquisition Finance and Lloyds Development Capital and so is now privately owned once more.
Originally deeply involved with the mining industry the company developed a comprehensive range of robust heavy duty motors that now embraces all commonly used enclosure, cooling and mounting configurations. Outputs are available up to 1500 kW for supplies up to 7.2 kV and frequencies of 50 and 60Hz, including the facility to be inverter driven.
