The Filter press is a solid / liquid separation process. Slurry is pumped into a bank of filter plates containing a filter chamber. The plates are held together with a hydraulic ram. Once the filter plates are filled, the plates are released allowing the filter cake to be discharged. During the filling the filtrate passes through the filter cloth, leaving the solid behind in the filter chamber.
