10th April 2015 - Marelli Motori is sponsoring an Italian expedition to Himalaya led by the famous Italian climber Mario Vielmo, a very experienced alpinist born in Vicenza.

 

Mario Vielmo will try, for the second time in his life, to summit Mount Lhotse, the fourth highest mountain in the world, located at the border of Tibet and Nepal. Lhotse derives its name from the Nepalese word “South Peak” due to its geographical position at the south of the Everest peak.

Lhotse’s 8516 m represent an extremely challenging enterprise for the Italian alpinist and his team, and this would be Mario’s tenth peak higher than 8.000 m. He will try to ascend Lhotse also in memory of the 16 sherpas who died in the tragic Ice Fall accident in April last year.
