igus motion plastics car wraps up 20,000 mile customer tour across North America
Company News Thursday, August 18, 2016: igus
The motion plastic specialist igus has expanded its range of wear-resistant “Tribo-Filaments” for 3D printing with the introduction of the chemical resistant iglide C210 printable material. Now, prototypes and custom small-batch components can be created and put into contact with chemicals and aggressive cleaning agents.
The C210 material is able to withstand a number of acids and solvents, as well as hydrogen peroxide. Additionally, the filament material offers high wear resistance, which ensures a long service life for printed components, and is able to stand up to long term temperatures of up to 212º F, and short term exposure to temperatures up to 356º F.
Ideal for use in a range of applications, especially for hygienically-sensitive areas such as in the food and pharmaceutical industries, the iglide C210 printer filament are up to 50 times more abrasion resistant than standard 3D printing plastic materials.
The tribologically optimized material is blended with solid lubricant to provide low-friction operation as a machine component when the material is printed. A total of six iglide materials are now available as Tribo-filament.
