Reliability and durability - First Cut’s consumables ensure promising growth in the agricultural mar
Product News Friday, May 31, 2013: First Cut (Pty) Ltd
While heavy farming implements, such as harvesters and tractors, play a critical role in the agricultural sector, one should not forget that smaller tools play a large part in keeping the wheels turning. This is according to Andrew Poole, Director at First Cut, a leading distributor of international capital equipment and consumables.
“First Cut has a comprehensive range of products aimed at the industrial, engineering and mining sectors. However, a number of our products are also used extensively by the agricultural sector to maintain their capital equipment,” Poole elaborates.
“First Cut has been involved in the agricultural sector since the company’s inception,” says Gary Willis, Sales Director at First Cut. “Currently, the most popular products in this sector are the Eclipse Blue Range tools from Neill Tools, including frames, hacksaws, vices and bolt cutters.
“We find that the majority of farmers are very self-sufficient and it would appear that they often undertake their own general engineering and maintenance. The Eclipse Blue Range appeals to the agricultural market because of its reliability and durability. In addition, First Cut is able to offer clients the assurance of complete parts stockholding from a wide range of options,” adds Willis.
First Cut also sells a large number of products to a large, well-known wholesale distributor of industrial products, agricultural requisites and related products. “This distributor, who has a national footprint, redistributes our range to retailers and industrial end-users throughout sub-Saharan Africa,” Willis explains.
“It is important for First Cut to support its distributors and clients wherever possible. For the past four years we have sent representatives to assist our distributor, Eddie’s Power Tools on their stand at the annual Grain SA NAMPO Harvest Day. We have seen a massive growth in turnover of the Eclipse range in the intervening years. I have no doubt that our participation in such a niche event is a large contributor to this growth,” Willis says.
The 2012 Grain SA NAMPO Harvest Day, which was held in mid-May 2012 between Klerksdorp and Bothaville in North West Province, had a record attendance figure of 71 723 visitors. “The show lived up to its reputation of providing a platform for agricultural producers to see a wide variety of products that have an impact on farming. First Cut used this opportunity to showcase the latest additions to the Eclipse Blue Range as well as demonstrate a number of small Everising bandsaws,” comments Willis.
“The First Cut product range complements the other products distributed by Eddie’s Power Tools. Since Eddie’s Power Tools has a firm presence in the agricultural market, we were able to leverage their existing client relationships and increase our market penetration,” says Willis.
“First Cut will continue to expand its client base in the agricultural sector through a strategic programme of introducing suitable new tools to the market. By increasing our presence at shows like the Nampo Harvest Day, we will be able to share the benefits that the high-quality Eclipse range offers the market,” Poole concludes.
