Carbon Equivalent
Referring to the rating of weld-ability, this is a value that takes into account the equivalent additive effects of carbon and other alloying elements on a particular characteristic of a steel. For rating of weld-ability, a formula commonly used is: CE 3D C + (Mn/6) + [(Cr + Mo + V)/5] + [(Ni + Cu)/15].
