A plunger pump is a type of positive displacement pump where the high-pressure seal is mounted on the stationary body and a cylindrical plunger slides through the seal as opposed to a piston pump that has the seal on the piston.
This allows them to be used at higher pressures than a piston pump. The pump is used in high pressure and low volume applications.
